A reason to celebrate

National Temporary Workers Week 2 - 6 June 2008

There are over 1.4 million temporary workers on assignment in the UK each week, in roles ranging from big-haul vehicle drivers to secondary school teachers. They are on the factory floor and in the operating theatre; they are running multinational business as Interim Managers and they are looking after newborn babies as trained nannies. The flexibility and dynamism that these remarkable people bring to their work is an important reason why the British economy continues to lead in Europe.

Here at Temp Recruitment Ltd we are proud to play our part in keeping the UK economy moving, and we are asking you to join with us in celebrating the achievements of these workers as part of a national campaign.

National Temporary Worker Week is an annual event run by our trade association, the Recruitment and Employment Confederation, to all UK temporary and contract workers.  In 2008 the Week is celebrated from 2-6 June culminating in a prestigious awards ceremony at the Houses of Parliament.

Recent research shows that overall temporary and contract workers are more satisfied than permanent workers, and that businesses treasure these workers for the flexibility and adaptability that they provide. And yet, too often the contribution that they make is overlooked when the success of UK business is celebrated. We hope that you will add your voices to ours in saying “Thank You” to these unsung heroes of the working world.
