Update on the Agency Bill
The Bill - which aims to impose equal treatment between agency workers and permanent employees from the first day of an assignment - went to Committee stage in the House of Commons this week.
REC data has been regularly referred to during the debate and the latest feedback is positive. Conservative MP Jonathan Djanogly stated that the "Opposition will oppose the Bill outright" and liberal Democrat MP Lorely Burt highlighted the "confusion in the Bill between agency workers and vulnerable workers". Despite a number of labour MPs supporting the Bill, the Government remain opposed which means that there is a good chance that it will not become law.
